Guardian Defence has a long history of providing reality-based self-defence training to women, beginning as 'Fight Like A Girl' in 2006. Since then we have had the privilege of providing training to thousands of women, with many going on to become high ranked students and instructors.
Guardian Women is a self-defence program designed to create empowerment and autonomy around our personal safety. Based on Krav Maga, a reality self-defence training system, these classes will provide you with the skills needed to defend yourself in everyday situations, should the need arise, regardless of body size or strength.
The Guardian Women program is built on a 10-week rotating syllabus ranging from basic strikes, environmental awareness, and releases from common grabs and holds, through to defence on the ground. You can expect to walk away from this program with some great skills, renewed confidence, improved fitness, a smile and maybe even some new friends! Can’t start week one? No problems, the classes are designed so you can jump in at any time and still rotate through. Whilst these classes are for women only, students are more than welcome to utilise our regular Krav Maga classes to further enhance their training.
The program was developed and is instructed by Zunami White, one of Australia’s leading female Krav Maga instructors and the director of Australia’s first female owned and operated full-time Krav Maga training centre – Guardian Defence. She is also the first woman in the world to achieve instructor certification in Floro Fighting Systems. Zunami is a passionate defender of women’s rights and female empowerment. After studying non-violence concepts in India, she continues to voice the importance of our rights to self-defence as a non-violent response to violence. Learn more about Zunami.
“I will continue to fight for a world free from violence against women but until that day comes I can only rely on myself for my personal safety” - Zunami White, Senior Instructor/ Director, Guardian Defence.

How flexible are the training options? The program is designed to suit your training needs. You can repeat the program as it runs consistently throughout the year and offers the opportunity to earn your Guardian Women Wings. You can also incorporate our regular classes as part of your training regime including boxing, parkour, fitness etc.
Who can train in the class? The class is available to all feminine identified people aged 16+ and is run by a female instructor (there may be men present in the facility at the same time as these classes). Women of all levels of fitness are encouraged to train.
How often will I need to train? There are three classes per week available. You can train in one or all of them. Each session of the week consists of the same syllabus so the more you train the more reflexive your skills will become.
How do I start? – First, you will need to attend an induction session (complimentary and obligation free). Click HERE to book a session or contact us at email@example.com and we will help find a session that works for you. From there we can enrol you in your first class.
Private Training is a great way of directly focusing in on the areas you wish to, in a private and confidential environment. You can choose to be taught by an instructor of your choice and at a time that suits you. To arrange and discuss, just give us a call 03 9383 4848 or contact us here.
All of our other programs and sessions are also female friendly with a strong focus on being an inclusive, safe and welcoming space for all genders. We also run regular courses that are specifically for those female identified on a regular basis. Please see below for details of upcoming courses.
